The gravel pit Kamenščica near Murska Sobota is to be changed into a lake with sport-recreational and ecological functions following the termination of excavation works.
The coexistence of quite aggressive activities on one side and pure nature on the other can, on such small place, be achieved only by merging both factors in two spatial and sensibly programmed fields.
The building structure is united in a long joint line structure on the location of the new sport-recreational centre. The building is entrenched into the terrain by the use of the difference in height between the level of the terrain and the level of lake level. The designed shore separates the lake into several smaller, mutually connected programme units, and with agitated designing it offers on a smaller scale a line of peaceful and hidden bays, especially important for development of waterside biotopes.
The predominant part of the shore is left to successive overgrowth, which will probably contribute in the best possible way to the ecological sanitation of the lake.
